• Provides Laboratory services to meet the needs of patients, performed in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
• Directly supervises personnel and testing/reporting of Laboratory procedures.
• Assures compliance with applicable regulations regarding laboratory operations.
• Responsible for the accuracy of patient results and the efficient operation, staffing and budget of section assigned.
• Works to establish standardized best practices for laboratory processes via assigned sections or laboratory; oversees implementation across the health organization.
• Supports Medical Director of laboratory.Duties:
  • Supervises work flow and staff; educates and trains employees; encourages development of staff's skills.
  • Evaluates reagents, equipment and new testing methods.
  • Effectively communicates and resolves concerns across multidisciplinary departments.
  • Plans, organizes and directs the activities of other individuals.
  • Maintains and reviews all laboratory records, reports, statistical logs and files to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory standards (TJC, CAP, CLIA 88 etc.).
  • Ensures Laboratory staff compliance role in regard to the above regulations.
  • Provides progressive leadership and management to staff through example and skill.
  • Manages events and potential laboratory service interruptions; escalates any such events to the Administrative Director of Laboratory Services as needed.
  • Updates executive on laboratory operations.
  • Maintains daily payroll and H.R. records.Qualifications:
    • ASCP - preferred
    • 2-4 years of experience working in Microbiology Laboratory required
    • 2-3 years of Laboratory management experience preferred
