Job Description:
Overview
One of America's largest retailers is seeking a growth-oriented
Director of Web Development. The Director of Web Development will
lead digital development, website enhancements, team management,
third-party integration, tech stack evolution, cross-functional
collaboration, code maintenance, and problem solving for sales and
web properties. This role will have a home base at either the
Lincolnshire or Downtown West Loop location, offering a hybrid
schedule, with three days in the office each week.
Responsibilities
Digital Development Leadership: Provide guidance in planning,
optimizing, and designing new functionality for sales and related
web properties.
Website Enhancement: Drive enhancements for websites, ensuring
alignment with architecture, infrastructure, and security
requirements.
Team Management: Lead a team of high-performing developers,
specializing in areas including UI development, API development,
integration, database, and back-end development.
Third-Party Integration: Oversee the integration of third-party
APIs and tools to enhance digital properties.
Tech Stack Evolution: Drive the evolution of the tech stack and
strategy, emphasizing a framework-driven approach, primarily in
React and Nest/Next.js.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional business teams,
including product, marketing, and compliance, to meet their
objectives.
Code Maintenance: Maintain the current architecture and code base
in PHP, HTML/CSS, and Postgresql.
Problem Solving: Guide the team in problem-solving, LOE estimation,
management of tech debt, and debugging.
Requirements
8+ years experience managing software/dev teams.
Extensive experience with PHP, Postgresql, React, and javascript
frameworks.
Deep understanding of SQL (postgresql), and performance
considerations for APIs pulling from SQL databases.
Experience architecting with and using technologies such as AWS
lamdas, Elasticsearch, Vercel, Kubernetes, Headless CMS,
Heroku.
Experience using Github, version control systems and managing
devops process.
Strong communication and human capital management skills.
Familiarity with Agile methodology.
