The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is Hong Kong's statutory body for promoting Hong Kong's trade with the world. Its overseas branch office in Chicago is inviting applications for the following position:
Director, Midwest
Key Responsibilities

• 
  
• Oversee all trade and services promotional activities in Chicago Office.
  
• Lead the Chicago office team towards achieving KPI targets by devising suitable promotional strategies and plans, supervising daily operations and closely monitoring work progress and performance of the staff members, while exercising stringent budget control to maximize utilization of resources.
  
• Oversee the implementation of the Council's Annual Plan and trade promotion program as well as ad-hoc projects under the geographical purview of Chicago Office, and to ensure all such activities are smoothly executed in coordination with the respective Head Office departments and/or branch offices.
  
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the office including administration, human resources and finance matters.
  
• Collect timely market intelligence pertaining to the interests of Hong Kong, keep a close watch on the latest product trends and market opportunities for Hong Kong companies, and update Head Office of any policy changes in the region.
  
• Develop high-level networks and contacts in the business, media and government sectors through various outreach activities and business functions.
  
• Support and facilitate the activities of the Hong Kong Business Associations in the region to expand membership and promote business ties between Hong Kong and the US.
  
• Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by senior management.
  
  Job Requirements
  
  • 
    
  • University graduated;
    
  • At least 15 years related working experience with at least 8 years in managerial role;
    
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English. Proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin will be a definite advantage;
    
  • Professional experience in event management, organizing and promoting trade fairs, delegations and other promotional activities;
    
  • Good network with local business community as well as multipliers, government bodies etc.;
    
  • Familiar with Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland business environment;
    
  • Good knowledge and experience in office administration;
    
  • A good team player and leader with strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
    
    Remuneration and Benefits
